Book Vs The Movie : The Silver Linings Playbook

Since I both love reading and watching movies, I always have this comparison but mostly the book wins!!

The Silver Linings Playbook
First attempt: I started with the movie first due the Oscar fuzz. 20 minutes after the movie started, I feel asleep.. Epic fail!

A friend said she was reading the book and I told her I find the movie boring but okay let me try reading the book.

The book was actually nice. I like Pat's character. He was not mentally stable, thinking most American Literature I read was Americans with some mental disorder or depression. Spell the ever famous Catcher in the Rye...

Anyway, Love the book, love the twist, love the semi -lovestory, I find the football fanatic part boring but I love the character of Tiffany(played by Jennifer Lawrence ).  I love that all questions in my mind were revealed at the end slowly... just like how the reality was revealed to Pat.

Then I watched the movie right after I read the book.. ebook for a more precise information. As in right after...

Just when Pat left the mental institution I was already horrified with disbelief! The cliffhanger reason why he became mentally disoriented was spilled out right away! grrrr..  You cannot feel the feeling of wanting to know exactly why he SHOULD Forget some parts of his life.

There are scenes also out of the story line. There was no feelings in each words and the most frustrating part was him seeing Nicky! Bummer! Because that's the whole point of the movie. He never saw Nicky again face to face and he learned to let go.....

The dance, the most important part of the book was totally change into a cheesy contest that was supported by his Father. His Father never support his dance which was supposed to be "Total Eclipse of the heart"

The ending was so lame that they just turned it into a love story.

Anyway, This was the worst movie adaptation I've ever seen. Its not like the book at all! They should have just used another movie tittle!

Ps: I'm loving Mathew Quick's writing.. I'm currently reading Boy21.... :)

I just can't get over Les Miserables Movie Version

I am a big fan of musicals and stage plays and knowing that one of my favorites will turn into a movie excites me much!! I totally waited for Les Miserables, as I grew up singing On my own. :)

I watched the film on its first weekend so I expected the line of people wanting to watch this very popular musical. Les Miserables is also very close to Filipino's heart as Lea Salonga played in its broadway show in both Fantine and Eponine, this was one of the most popular Filipino pride!

My attentiveness was like a kid watching a cartoon. I was listening carefully to all the tones and lyrics. I was breathing every scene like I am part of it, my obsession with this musical play. Its kinda amazing to see popular actors and actresses playing the roles. I must say that Hugh Jackman might not be the best person I pictured for the role of Jean Valjean but he did his conviction with the character.

I was specially touched, move or whatever you might call it by Anne Hathaway's solo of I Dream a Dream. My tears fell with her scene. Some friends of mine thinks it was too "ngalngal" but I think that the camera shot and angle was so simple but yet so dramatic. The way she sang might not be the best since she is really not a singer or Lea, but the expression on her face shows real pain!

The On my Own since for me was a bit disappointing. Since I listed to Lea's version over and over, her high notes in my head cannot be erased so I was not so pleased with the movie's version. I find the solo scene quite lame as well as Eponine was just suddenly alone at the street with rain over her, we've seen too much of this type of dramas.

Borat and Helena made the whole movie less boring for those who are not musical enthusiast. Helena seems to be just herself :)

All in all the movie was great even Russell Crowe's voice was not suited for a musical. He was better a regular actor.

While watching the movie, I keep on thinking that I've seen the guy who played Enjolras, the rebel guy in red.  I have this itchy feeling "Ive seen this guy before but I cant remember" So after the movie I asked for the help of our dear friend Google to find out more and I was right!, He was Tripp from Gossip Girl :)

Rooftop Prince

Since most of the American Series I am following were on break during the holiday season, I stumble upon a  nice, funny and romantic Korean Series again, Rooftop Prince.

Rooftop Prince is now being shown by ABS-CBN every afternoon but since Korean DVD's is not hard to find, I watched it quite fast. Also, its better to watch with their own voices rather than dubbed even reading the sub tittles is really inconvenient.

I have seen several Korean series and Rooftop prince seems to have different edge to it coz 2 different time meets with characters from the past and the future suddenly mixed up with their love triangle and heroic stories.

What I like about Rooftop Prince is the funny antics of the characters coming from the past. Also, the love story was quite interesting coz the complication is not just about another girl who is trying to get the boy. The prince was suppose to be in love with this girl who was the crown princess from the pass but was the antagonist from the future but then it all turn around. Also, the prince was send to the future with his 3 companions to solve the said murder of the crowned princess. The future will lead them to the truth and to his new love.

The dragging part is just like other Korean Series, all the dramas at the middle part since its 20 episodes but its good that the dramas were not too much of crying and all the hatred.

The ending was really interesting with the concept of fate and true love!

2013 less talk and more writing...

I haven't been writing again for quite a while since I have less time on hand now a days. But writing has been my passion and part of who I am. So this 2013, the thing I want to do or to continue and to commit with is to get back to writing.

I will write things in my mind or anything under the sun. Short stories that poop in my mind that actually seems weird to others. Movie, TV Series and Book reviews, my actual opinion on these 3 things I am very much interested.

I will write about my travels, cultures and food or anything I see around me that caught my attention.

WACKYSPEAKS is back and blogging!!
